WSJ names Karmin its markets editor

Craig Karmin

Wall Street Journal financial editor Dennis Berman sent out the following announcement to the staff:

I’m pleased to announce Craig Karmin is the Journal’s new Markets Editor, a position he’s uniquely qualified for. Craig joined the Journal in 1999. As a reporter and senior special writer, he has covered emerging markets, foreign exchange, the hotel industry and real estate. Most recently, he was deputy markets editor overseeing the commodities, currency and emerging markets teams in New York.

Previously, he reported on Congress and campaign finance for The Hill newspaper in Washington, D.C., and was a foreign correspondent in Prague following the collapse of the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc communist regimes. Craig received a political science degree and a masters in journalism from U.C. Berkeley. His book, Biography of the Dollar, was a best-seller and has been translated into Japanese, Portuguese and several other languages.

As we engage in our 2020 process, we will continue to refine and improve our markets coverage for a mobilecentric world. Craig and his team are an essential part to the changes ahead of us.

Please join me in congratulating Craig on his promotion.
