Wall Street Journal senior editor Gabriella Stern and senior editor Steve Wisnefski made the following staff announcement on Friday afternoon:
We are pleased to announce that Pat Sullivan will lead our newly combined Market Talk group in New York. Pat, who has been the chief editor on the NewsPlus desk for the past five years, will begin his new role Feb. 28. Pat will lead a team of four editors who handle Market Talk items on all asset classes from throughout the Americas. He will oversee our ongoing efforts to improve the quality and volume of our Market Talk stream, while working to ensure that the product has a consistent look and feel across asset classes. In addition to serving our traditional wires, the Market Talk team will be instrumental in feeding FX Trader with commentary and insights on key developments.
Pat will not only be responsible for guiding the work of the editors on the Market Talk desk, but also will coordinate closely with colleagues from throughout the Americas to guarantee a steady flow of high-quality copy. Pat will no doubt spend a good deal of time mentoring and cajoling Newswires reporters and editors to contribute to the Market Talk stream.
Pat joined Dow Jones as an editor on the NewsPlus team in January 2003. Prior to that, he spent a year as production editor at Energy Argus and three years as a copy editor at Bridge News. Pat received a B.A. in English/Journalism from Trenton State College.
