Timothy Aeppel, the economics bureau chief at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following staff promotion on Wednesday
We’d like to announce Phil Izzo is becoming deputy bureau chief of the Journal’s Economics group in New York. This formalizes and deepens Phil’s already crucial role in the Journal’s economics coverage and is part of a larger effort to integrate our print and digital efforts. Phil is a graduate of Fordham and joined the paper in 1999 on the overseas copy desk.
In 2007, a lifetime ago in this era of rapid digital transformation, Phil launched our award-winning Real Time Economics blog, which today is one of our most widely read blogs.
Izzo is a news editor for the Wall Street Journal online, focusing on economic coverage. He has worked for WSJ.com since 2006.
