Tracy Corrigan, the editor of The Wall Street Journal Europe, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
The Wall Street Journal Europe is seeking a new Managing Editor, News, based in London. The managing editor serves as the chief news editor in Europe during the business day and manages production of the newspaper in the evening, overseeing a desk of about 10 editors. The editor works in close conjunction with the Journal’s New York-based foreign desk, led by Adam Horvath, as well as European WSJ and Dow Jones bureaus to coordinate news and packaging online and in print. Fluency in financial and economic news, a keen understanding of the Journal’s processes, and experience in both Web and print are strongly recommended. The successful candidate will step into a senior role at the heart of the busy WSJ/Dow Jones newsroom in the City of London. The unfolding Euro crisis will be a central story in Europe and globally for the foreseeable future. You will also be based in one of the world’s great capitals just as it is preparing for the 2012 Olympics. And you will be joining the Wall Street Journal in Europe as it continues its rapid digital expansion across web, mobile and video, and overseeing production of a print newspaper which finds its way on to the desks of some of the continent’s key decision-makers. The job will report jointly to Tracy Corrigan and Matt Murray. If you are interested, please approach one of them.
