Wall Street Journal marketplace editor Dennis Berman sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced, confident journalist to helm a new online project that will reshape how the Journal covers business news.
This person will be responsible for a real-time news effort that will “blog the business day,” with an emphasis on the biggest stories of the moment. Each day will be different, meaning this real-time columnist should have a broad range of interests be it technology, consumer brands, air travel, natural resources, health care or the completely serendipitous.
This person should have a love of learning, a hunger for being first, a ready wit, and an ability to write with voice and clarity. A provocateur’s touch is helpful, as is attention to accuracy and fairness.
This post is expected to be a high-profile one, demanding frequent appearances on national media and WSJ’s online video.
The new project will also be a hub for contributions from throughout the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones. This person will help mentor those bureau contributors, working closely with them to keep the Journal up-to-speed with today’s news cycle.
