WSJ launches new WSJ+ service for subscribers

The Wall Street Journal launched Monday WSJ+, a membership program exclusively for subscribers, as a complimentary addition to their subscription.

The launch of WSJ+ marks the first of several significant initiatives the company will roll out during the coming weeks and months as part of a broader effort to further engage with readers and grow its subscriber base.

WSJ+ members will receive special offers and be welcomed to invitation-only events designed to bring Journal content to life, while providing subscribers elevated Journal experiences specially curated to speak to their wide-ranging and ambitious interests. Events will take place across the country and will include panel discussions with top Journal editors, as well as arts performances and private film screenings.

Those events include a tour of the Journal’s New York newsroom for an exclusive discussion led by editor in chief Gerard Baker.

“We’ve always valued our loyal subscribers and we are as committed as ever to delivering the best content anywhere. In the last few years we’ve built on our unrivaled reporting and analysis to include the liveliest coverage of arts, entertainment, sports, fashion, real estate, lifestyle and everything else readers need to stay informed,” said Baker in a statement. “We believe more means more, and WSJ+ allows us to maximize the benefits we’re offering subscribers.”

Access to WSJ+ is complimentary for eligible subscribers with paid subscriptions attached to a U.S. billing address. Existing eligible subscribers will be invited to opt-in to the program, while new eligible subscribers will automatically be enrolled.

There are also plans for an international expansion of WSJ+.
