The Wall Street Journal has hired Elaine Yu as a reporter in Hong Kong.
She will be focusing on the intersection of politics and finance, and will also be writing about the city.
Yu previously worked for Agence France-Presse and as a freelance reporter for The New York Times. She has also written for CNN International, the New Yorker, VICE News, The Nation, Dissent, The Baffler, and other publications.
She has appeared as a commentator on the BBC, Al Jazeera and WNYC.
