All,
We are pleased to announce three new hires in our expanding political team at The Wall Street Journal, which will enhance our coverage across the National Politics, White House and Congress teams heading into the 2020 elections.
John McCormick is coming on board as a national political reporter, stationed in our Chicago bureau. John’s covered presidential campaigns for more than a decade and is an established authority on Iowa and the Midwest. He’s also built unique stories by using an assortment of databases that break from traditional molds. He joins us from Bloomberg. He is the second national political reporter to be based outside of Washington after Emily Glazer joined the team in Los Angeles.
Tarini Parti is joining our national political team, based in Washington. She was covering the White House for Buzzfeed News after traveling extensively during the 2016 presidential campaign. Prior to that, she covered money and lobbying for Politico. From her perch at the White House, Tarini discovered through FOIA requests a previously unknown perk for members of the Trump Organization’s clubs: Air Force One tours. She will bring investigative skills and creativity to the team. She’s a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Catherine Lucey will be the newest member of our White House team, a beat she has had for the Associated Press since the start of the Trump administration. Catherine has landed major interviews with such political headliners as President Trump, Ivanka Trump and Hillary Clinton. Catherine’s deep network at the White House and her drive to break news will provide added strength to our outstanding White House roster.
All three will arrive by the end of the month, so please give them a warm welcome. We are delighted to have them coming on board and we have more new hires for the team to come, so please stay tuned. They will all report to Ben Pershing, Politics Editor.
