TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE
Stefanie Ilgenfritz, an editor at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following staff announcement on Monday afternoon:
We have a new reporter in the Health & Science group, Christopher Weaver, who will be covering medical devices and part of the pharmaceutical industry. Chris has covered insurers, hospitals and state and federal health agencies from Washington for the last few years as a reporter for Kaiser Health News. Before that, he interned at ProPublica. He’s from Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and is a graduate of Tulane University. He worked briefly for nonprofit health care organizations in Louisiana before entering journalism. Please join me in welcoming Chris to the Journal, and share any advice that you have about defibrillators.
Weaver also has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland. He covered hospital billing practices, insurers’ strategies, and states’ struggles with health spending for the Kaiser news service. Before joining Kaiser Health News, he wrote for Part B News, a UCG publication.
