The Wall Street Journal has hired Robin Kwong as its newsroom innovation chief.

He will report to Louise Story and start next month.

Kwong is currently the head of digital delivery at the Financial Times, a position he has held since June 2017. Before that, he was special projects editor.

As head of digital delivery, Kwong has led a team of creative producers to pioneer digital storytelling formats and transform the newsroom’s commissioning process. His team has worked with editors on news desks, and have created new internal products such as a set of Story Playbook templates to encourage more visual storytelling.

Kwong was also the tech, media and telecoms news editor at the FT, as well as its Taipei correspondent. He previously worked at the South China Morning Post.
