I’m delighted to announce the addition of James Mackintosh to our ranks, a big part of our plans to enhance the Journal’s markets coverage.James is a 19-year veteran of the Financial Times, where he currently writes the well-regarded “Short View” daily column. In his column he effortlessly covers everything from bonds, stocks, commodities and swap spreads, to central banks, currencies and interest rates.
He already has shown himself a crack a-hed writer, having recently sojourned from The City for a story on competitive carriage driving.
When he joins us in February, the London-based James will be writing many times each week, helping our readers make sense of markets that are inexorably more complicated and more global year by year. We also hope to take advantage of his considerable skill doing markets videos.
James’ hiring is just the start of big changes underway in our markets coverage. We are endeavoring to improve our sophistication and timeliness, being more responsive to how today’s readers want markets news.
