WSJ hires Bass as senior editor for Review section

Warren Bass

Mike Miller, senior editor of features and WSJ Weekend, sent out the following announcement on Thursday:

We’re delighted to announce the return of Warren Bass to Review as senior editor. We’ve missed Warren’s expertise, creativity and team spirit since he was lured away from us last year by Penguin Press, where he’s been working as executive editor, acquiring and editing big nonfiction books. He’s enjoyed his time in publishing but couldn’t resist our offer to return to the newsroom and reconnect with old colleagues.

Warren’s background includes stints as the deputy editor of The Washington Post’s Outlook section, an investigator and writer for the 9/11 Commission, a speechwriter at the State Department and a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the author of “Support Any Friend: Kennedy’s Middle East and the Making of the U.S.-Israel Alliance” and holds a Ph.D. in history from Columbia.

We’re hoping that Warren will start on October 29, but that date may slide a bit since he and his wife Jenna are expecting their first child any day now. Please join us in welcoming Warren back to 1211.
