TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Wall Street Journal managing editor Robert Thomson sent out the following announcement to the staff on Thursday afternoon:

We’re pleased to announce significant additions to our already pre-eminent group covering economics, U.S. Treasurys, forex and emerging markets in New York. It is our intention to broaden our financial and markets expertise over the coming months, to the benefit of Newswires, the Journal, wsj.com and our still clandestine “secret project”:

Anjali Cordeiro will be an emerging markets reporter, having had three and a half years as a scoop-gathering consumer products, food and beverages reporter with the Dow Jones News Service.

Lingling Wei joins in December as a hedge funds and sovereign wealth funds special writer after much success reporting on commercial real-estate for more than three years as part of the Journal’s property group.

Neil Shah will join in January as a forex options reporter after narrating Europe’s tumultuous markets for the Journal in London.

Stephen Bernard joins next month from The Associated Press, where he covered the U.S. stock market. Steve will be part of the forex markets team with Brad Davis and Andrew Johnson.

Chana Schoenberger, most recently with Bloomberg in Tokyo and before that with Forbes in Tokyo and New York, joins on Dec. 1 as our first specialist reporter covering corporate hedging.

David Biderman, the WSJ’s sports desk’s inhouse jock and reporting assistant, joins Dec. 6 as an assistant news editor.

John Parry, formerly a ThomsonReuters fixed income and forex reporter, returns to Dow Jones as Assistant Managing Editor for Money coverage in the Americas. He will report to Mike Casey and work with Robert Flint, Forex Markets News Editor.

Please join us in welcoming our new colleagues and celebrate the fact that Dow Jones is investing in its core financial reporting team.
