Wall Street Journal Washington bureau chief John Bussey sent out the following announcement to the staff Thursday afternoon:
I’m pleased to announce that Patrick O’Connor will be joining the Washington bureau as our chief Washington Wire blogger. Patrick will also write more broadly about politics and will report to National Politics Editor Aaron Zitner. Patrick is currently at Bloomberg News, where he covers Congress for both the newswire and Bloomberg BusinessWeek. He previously spent three years as a staff writer at Politico, where he covered Congress and campaigns and helped create two blogs: The Crypt, an insider’s guide to Congress, and Live Pulse, which broke news and provided analysis on health care.
Between 2004 and 2006, Patrick was a staff writer for The Hill, where he covered Congress and congressional campaigns.
Patrick has a Bachelor’s degree in history from Northwestern University and a Masters from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Please join me in welcoming Patrick to the Journal.
