WSJ Asia editor says goodbye

Mariko Sanchanta, a senior Asia editor for The Wall Street Journal who is joining the Burson-Marsteller public relations firm in Hong Kong as a managing director, sent a goodbye email to her colleagues on Thursday.

Sanchanta wrote:

Tomorrow is my last day at the WSJ. I’m extremely grateful to have worked alongside such intelligent, driven and witty comrades in both Tokyo and Hong Kong – and to have met and worked with so many others across the globe.
I leave with the fondest of memories. Please keep in touch.
Sanchanta had experience at the world’s top two business publications: The  Journal and the Financial Times. Her career has taken her from New York to Tokyo to London and back. She is now based in Hong Kong, where she oversees corporate coverage across Asia for the Wall Street Journal. In her career as a reporter, she has written about everything from sovereign debt to the steel industry to female sushi chefs.
Sanchanta is also a regular on camera, appearing on the WSJ show “Asia Today,” and often speaks and moderates at events across Asia.
