WSJ adds two to Japanese language service

Makiko Ashida, translation editor for WSJ Japan, sent out the following announcement on Wednesday:

Hi colleagues,

I’m delighted to introduce 2 new translators for WSJ’s Japanese Language Services team.

Tomoe Shimizu studied Linguistics in Japan and the U.S. and worked as English to Japanese translator at Bloomberg in New Jersey for 19 years.  She has lived in Delaware, the outskirts of Philadelphia, and New Jersey.  She is a concert goer and lover of Japanese cuisines.  You can ask for recommendation if you are craving for authentic sushi in NY!

Hideyuki Inoue, born and raised in Tokyo, has been living in NY since 2007.  He has also lived in England to complete his Master’s degree at University of Warwick.  Previously he was working as a fund manager and holds CFA.  In his spare time, Hideyuki enjoys playing baseball in a local Japanese team.  He’s also a keen skier.

They have joined Kyoko Kobayashi, another NY-based translator for the JLS team.  Three of them will work for Japanese editions of WSJ and Newswires, covering everything from stocks to Stormy Daniels.

They sit near the sports desk on the 5th floor.  Please feel free to come by to say hi.
