Worth editor leaving, interim editor named

Worth Magazine executive editor Matthew Purdue will become interim editor-in-chief of the business glossy until a successor can be found for current editor Dwight Cass, who will depart in January. Parent company CurtCo said the search process has already begun.

Cass is leaving Worth to accept the position of capital markets editor with breakingviews.com, a London-based online international financial commentary service, CurtCo said.

“Dwight came on board shortly after we acquired and re-launched Worth, and he has helped guide it as it has grown and thrived under CurtCo’s ownership,? said Brett Anderson, CurtCo Media’s senior vice president of editorial. “Under his leadership, Worth has become a ground-breaking magazine that is today the gold standard brand for information on wealth management, preservation and transference. He leaves a magazine that is very healthy on both the editorial and business sides and is well positioned for the future. We are grateful for Dwight’s contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors.?

Purdue is an award-winning editor with more than a dozen years’ experience who has been with Worth since 2004.

“There is a very strong editorial team in place at Worth, all of whom understand its unique mission and place in the magazine world and the strong relationship it has with its readers,? said Purdue in a statement. “I look forward to leading the staff during this transitional period, as it continues to produce this extraordinary publication.?
