Worcester daily lays off biz columnist

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette laid off several employees Tuesday.

The newspaper let go of Peter Cohan, a business author and Babson College lecturer. Cohan wrote a business column once or twice a week for the Telegram for about eight years.

The parent company of Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Gatehouse Media, is currently involved in a merger with Gannett, which would create the country’s largest newspaper company.

About six people were laid off, some of whom announced that they were laid off on Twitter. This included those who worked in advertising and pre-press operations, as well.
