Worcester Biz Journal launches weekly podcast

The Worcester Business Journal in Massachusetts has launched a weekly podcast called The Weekly Business Report.

“As opposed to our website and the WBJ Daily Report enewsletter, which are focused more on news of the day, the podcast is meant to be a look ahead at the business news happening in the immediate future,” said editor in chief Brad Kane, who is a co-host of the podcast.

The other host long-time Worcester radio host Hank Stolz.

“We will have two guests on per show: one reporter from WBJ to discuss an upcoming story, and one local businessperson to talk about her/his specific area of expertise,” said Kane. “For the first episode, we talked to the head of main commercial real estate firm in the city.”

Kane believes that the podcast audience aligns with the business newspaper’s target audience almost perfectly. At 24-26 minutes, the podcast is timing to coincide with the average commuting time in Greater Worcester.

The podcast only available on WBJournal.com and on Podbean. In the coming days, the podcast will expand to the typical podcast platforms such as Apple, Stitcher, Spotify, and Google Play.

The podcast is done in conjunction with Radio Worcester, Stolz’s company. Radio Worcester provides all the equipment and editing, while WBJ provides the content.

“We also agreed to a content exchange, where we can use other Radio Worcester podcasts on our website and in our Podbean feed,” said Kane.
