Worcester Business Journal on Monday hired Grant Welker, mostly recently a staff reporter for the Lowell Sun, to run WBJ’s online, social and e-newsletter duties as the publication’s new digital editor.
A story on its website states, “‘Grant’s wealth of experience covering local and business news for publications throughout New England will ensure WBJ will remain at the forefront of delivering breaking Central Massachusetts business news on a daily basis through our digital platforms,’ Editor Brad Kane said. ‘It is an honor to have a reporter of his caliber on our editorial team.’
“Welker, a native of Plymouth, ran the Lowell city beat for the Lowell Sun, including covering the saga of Tewksbury grocery chain Market Basket, which resulted in his authoring the book ‘We Are Market Basket: The Story of the Unlikely Grassroots Movement that Saved a Beloved Business’ in 2015. The book was named a Forbes top business book for the year.
“‘I look forward to helping the Worcester Business Journal cover everything business-related across Central Massachusetts,’ Welker said. ‘It’s an exciting time to cover the region, with so much going on, and I hope to be a critical part of the WBJ’s coverage online each day and in print.'”
