Abrams Media has launched a site called Jane Dough for women in business, and Amy Tennery writes on the site about what it hopes to achieve.
“But primarily you will see us focusing on the often under-reported successes of female business leaders, and occasionally highlighting the subtle and, at other times overt, sexism in the business world — and the media that covers it.
“Hillary Reinsberg and I loved writing and editing Mogulite – but we realized what often made our particular business news site different from many others: It was a business site written by people named Hillary and Amy. That’s not to say that there aren’t many great female business writers. But the stories that we were most excited to write (and which generated the greatest response from readers), were the ones most personal to us, as women.
“How will Virginia Rometty, the first female CEO of IBM, change the face of the industry? Has her being a “she” already increased the value of the company? Which women are fighting to bring more of us into the boardroom and do the methods currently in place make sense? And, for that matter, can new quota systems actually help women in the corporate world?”
