Wisconsin paper updates Sunday biz coverage

Mark Treinen, the executive editor of the Wausau Daily Herald in Wisconsin, writes Saturday about improvements to the paper’s business news coverage.

Treinen writes, “But if you pick up a copy of Sunday’s paper, you’ll see that we’ve added new features to what are now called our Central Wisconsin Business pages in the B section.

“Those include:

» Jake Miller‘s weekly Business Desk column: Miller, our business and health reporter, summarizes and analyzes some of the latest economic news in the region.

» Top 10 lists: Every other week, we produce a list of items of interest to business readers, such as top 10 cars purchased, top Wisconsin golf courses, top dairy-producing counties, etc.

» Business Barometer: On opposite weeks from Top 10 lists, we provide a statistical report on measurements of the local economy, ranging from building permits by county to the latest local sales tax collections.

» Great job!: This is a brag board for local employers to highlight outstanding performance of individual staff members. To learn more or nominate someone for this feature, contact Debbie Siburt at dsiburt@wausau.gannett.com or at 715-845-0602.

» Wisconsin Job Counter: This weekly graphic tracks job-related news across the state.”
