Wired senior editor Susan Murcko has been hired Popular Science as features editor.
Her first day is Jan. 23.
At Wired, Murcko was in charge of developing and editing long-form features for both print and web, as well as running the website’s security channel.
While at Wired, she worked with senior staff writers Steven Levy, Jessi Hempel and Andy Greenberg on major features and cover stories, shaped the inaugural 2015 Wired Next List package, and edited contributors including Charles C. Mann, whose look at India’s critical role in climate change, “India’s Choice,” was selected for The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2015.
“Susan is one of the best editors I’ve ever worked with,” says Popular Science editor Joe Brown in a statement. “And I’ve yet to meet a colleague of hers who doesn’t feel the same. I am so excited to welcome her and her brain full of world-class ideas to our growing team.”
Prior to working at Wired, Murcko spent time in senior editing roles at Condé Nast Portfolio, Details, Rolling Stone and other publications.
