Wired was named Tuesday as a finalist for magazine of the year by the American Society of Magazine Editors.
Wired has been a finalist in the general excellence category for each of the past five years. It won a general excellence award in 2007.
Wired’s entries were its June, August and December issues. The 2011 National Magazine Awards also mark the first time that society will host a dinner on Monday, May 9, to present the awards. The awards are known as the Ellies — for the Alexander Calder stabile “Elephant” given to each award winner.
Wired is also a finalist in three other categories — print design, magazine section and personal service. Those category finalists were announced last week.
