Wired hires NY Times’ Henry as service editor

Alan Henry

Alan Henry will be joining Wired as a service editor covering tech service journalism and commission stories. He will also be hiring a new team to expand focus.

His new role begins April 4.

Currently, Henry is the senior digital strategist at The New York Times. He helps people improve their lives via The Times’ Smarter Living Program. As a Smarter Living editor, he also aids the newspaper to stay connected with a new, modern and diverse audience.

Previously, Henry was with Gawker Media where he held the post of editor-in-chief. Before that, he was a freelance writer covering tech news, hardware, software, video games, security, gadgets, gear and mobile technology for Ziff Davis Media.

Additionally, he has also served as a project manager at Merkle Inc. and as a computer analyst at TerpSys. He was also an IT coordinator at the University of Maryland at College Park.

Henry has undergraduate degrees’ in astronomy and physics from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
