Wired hires Mullin to cover biotechnology

Wired magazine has hired Emily Mullin to cover biotechnology.

She will start next month.

She has been working for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and also previously reported on biotech for Medium’s OneZero publication.

Mullen was previously a freelance writer who has had bylines in The Washington Post, The Wall Street JournalScientific American, National Geographic, The Atlantic, Science, QuartzPacific Standard, and The Baltimore Sun, among others.

Her areas of interest include gene therapy, CRISPR, consumer genetics, reproductive technology, brain implants, regenerative medicine, biohacking, and AI in medicine.

She has also worked as associate editor for biomedicine at MIT Technology Review, where she earned a Newsbrief Award from the D.C. Science Writers Association.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism at Ohio University and a master’s in science writing from Johns Hopkins University.
