Wired hires features editor, senior editor

Wired editor in chief Scott Dadich announced the following editorial hires in a memo to staff:

Maria Streshinsky joins as features editor at Wired. She was most recently deputy editor at Mother Jones. Previously, Streshinsky was editor in chief at Pacific Standard from 2011 to 2015, where she assigned and edited the 2015 National Magazine Award-winning Public Interest story “Why Women Aren’t Welcome on the Internet.” She will be based in Wired’s San Francisco headquarters; her start date is June 13.

Richard Dorment joins as senior editor at Wired. Previously, he was a senior editor at Esquire since 2007, where he oversaw projects including the “Life of Man” 80th-anniversary issue. Dorment will be based in Wired’s New York office; his start date is June 6.

Nate Goldman joins as social media manager at Wired. Previously, he was social media manager at New York Magazine. Goldman will be based in New York; his start date is June 6.

Olga Monserrat joins as senior art director, platforms. Previously, she worked at Edelman, Cuyana, Swirl, and Ogilvy. Monserrat will be based in San Francisco; her start date is June 23.

And promotions:

Adam Rogers was promoted to deputy editor. Previously, he was story editor and oversaw the Science desk.

Caitlin Roper was promoted to articles editor. Previously she was a senior editor.

Ed Sumner has been promoted to associate director, audience development. Sumner was previously a digital planning manager on the sales team.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
