Wirecutter announces new hires, promotions

Wirecutter, a product-recommendation service that the New York Times Company has owned since 2016, today announced a set of editorial hires and promotions. An email from the Times stated:

Jason Chen joins Wirecutter from New York magazine’s “The Strategist,” where he also held the position of deputy editor. In his new role, Jason will oversee several of Wirecutter’s core coverage areas — including computers, TVs, audio gear, and most tech products — and pioneer Wirecutter’s expansion into new areas in the pursuit of engaging new and relevant audiences. Jason will also oversee Wirecutter’s photo and video teams.

Annemarie Conte joins the company from Woman’s Day, where she held the role of executive editor. At Wirecutter, Annemarie will lead two sections core to the site’s future growth: Wirecutter Money, its personal finance vertical, and Deals.

Christine Cyr Clisset has been promoted to deputy editor from within Wirecutter. She previously held the role of senior editor. In her new role, Christine will oversee several of Wirercutter’s core coverage areas, including kitchen & dining, appliances, baby & kid, and most home goods. Christine will also oversee the team tasked with managing Wirecutter’s testing operations in the company’s new Long Island City facility.

The three deputies will report directly to Ben Frumin, editor-in-chief of Wirecutter. …

Additionally, the company has promoted Annam Swanson to managing editor and hired Roxanne Emadi as director of editorial strategy and audience development. Both Annam and Roxanne also report to Ben and sit on the editorial leadership team.
