Wilmington biz editor is leaving

Bonnie Eksten, the business editor of the Wilmington Star News, is leaving the paper. He last day is Aug. 4, according to an e-mail she sent.

Eksten wrote, “Hard decision, not made in haste, but made because I’d like to have some more time to spend with my husband and family, enjoy the beach and for all the reasons we moved to North Carolina 8 years ago. I loved this job — even though I flew solo.”

I’ve known Eksten for the past four years, and she’s done a great job of covering business in the Wilmington area, even though she was a one-person staff.
