I’m thrilled to announce that Brad Wieners will be deputy editor of Bloomberg Businessweek. As executive editor Brad has overseen the magazine’s features and the Etc. section for almost five years. He’s also the impressario behind the scenes of our annual design issue. He’s a talented and thoughtful editor, a fantastic colleague to all, and I feel lucky to have him at my side as we continue the adventure of putting out our ambitious and ever-evolving magazine.
Prior to joining us at Businessweek, Brad was editor of Men’s Journal. He’s also worked at National Geographic Adventure, Outside and Wired.
Please join me in congratulating Brad.
He joined Businessweek as executive editor in February 2011.
As executive editor, Wieners supervised the magazine’s features and Etc. (lifestyle) sections. He has also contributed several features, including a European edition cover story on a migrant rescue operation in the Mediterranean; a profile of Harvard’s Clay Christensen; and, taking a cue from his school age kids, a cover story on Lego. Wieners will continue to oversee Bloomberg Businessweek’s annual Design Issue.
A magazine writer and editor for 20 years, Wieners previously served as executive editor for Men’s Journal from 2005 to 2007, and editor from 2007 to 2010. Prior to Men’s Journal, Wieners was executive editor at both National Geographic Adventure and CIO Insight, and held senior editorial positions at Outside and Wired, where he covered the venture capital community during the dot com boom.
He’s competed in New Zealand’s Coast to Coast adventure race; was along when Dr. Robert Ballard discovered the remains of John F. Kennedy’s PT-109 in the Solomon Islands; and, in 1997, co-created Burning Man, the first book of photographs and essays documenting the desert carnival. Wieners lives with his family in Nyack, New York.
