Whitney Shaw named CEO of American City Business Journals

August 3, 2009

Whitney Shaw has been named the CEO of American City Business Journals, succeeding his father Ray Shaw, who died last month. ACBJ publishes 40 business newspapers.

Mark Harden of the Denver Business Journal writes, “Whitney Shaw had been senior vice president of Charlotte, N.C.-based ACBJ and president of its sports publishing division.

“And Kirk Shaw, Whitney’s brother and Ray’s son, has been named ACBJ’s executive vice president and CFO. He previously was CFO.

“The appointments were announced Monday by S. I. Newhouse Jr., chairman of Advance Publications, which owns ACBJ.

“‘It’s fitting that Ray’s sons take over at American City,’ Newhouse said in a statement. ‘They worked by his side for 20 years and this is what he would have wanted and recommended. The same principles that Ray used in building ACBJ will continue and thrive under his sons and their colleagues.'”
