What’s happening with finding a replacement for Tess Vigeland

In August, American Public Media announced that popular “Marketplace Money” host Tess Vigeland planned to leave at the end of November.

Now, two weeks until her last day, no replacement has been named.

Deborah Clark, the executive producer of the popular radio show, says that a nationwide search has begun to find a replacement, but so far no one has been selected.

“Though we’ll miss her, we’re excited about having an opportunity to bring a new voice into the Marketplace portfolio,” said Clark in an Thursday morning email to Talking Biz News.

In the interim, “Marketplace Money” is using a mix of guest hosts – both folks already inside the Marketplace family — Jeremy Hobson, Sarah Gardner, David Brancaccio — and others with great hosting track records – Tony Cox, formerly of NPR, and Barbara Bogaev, formerly of “Weekend America” and “Fresh Air,” among them.

Adds Clark: “We are also experimenting with using hosts who come from the ranks of personal finance experts – David Lazarus of the LA Times is on the list.  That’s another model we’re considering as we move forward.  So a time of exciting transition for us.”
