Website covering Calgary business has launched

Calgary’s Business, a new website covering business news in and around the Canadian city, has launched.

It’s a product of Troy Media, an editorial content provider to over 1,800 print and online media outlets in Canada.

Founded in 2005, Troy Media provides stories and analytical columns. Traditional media outlets, as well as websites, use or license content supplied by its columnists, contributors and freelancers for their own needs.

The president and publisher is Doug Firby, who was the editorial page editor at the Calgary Herald for seven years.

John Stewart is the editor in chief. Stewart spent more than three and a half decades working in the newspaper industry, as reporter, editor, columnist and finally as managing editor of the Red Deer Advocate.

The chief correspondent is Mario Toneguzzi, a former business reporter for the Calgary Herald who covered real estate news.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
