Waters hired by CoStar to cover Chicago real estate

Jennifer Waters

Longtime business journalist Jennifer Waters has been hired by CoStar group to cover commercial real estate news in Chicago.

She starts March 27.

Waters has been writing the Consumer Confidential column for MarketWatch.com and has covered the markets for a variety of beats, including retail, airlines, food, grocers, drugstores, hotels, restaurants as well as commercial real estate and the business of sports.

She also authored a Personal Business column about government retirement programs for the Sunday Wall Street Journal.

Waters was also the Chicago bureau chief for CBS MarketWatch and a host on Minnesota Public Television.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Illinois State University and an MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Journalism.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
