Washington state paper names new business reporter

Kathy Korengel has joined the Tri-City Herald in Washington state as a business reporter.

A story on its site states, “Before coming to Kennewick, she was a reporter for The News-Review in Roseburg, Ore., since early 2008. Prior to that, she was a reporter for the Union-Bulletin in Walla Walla for seven years.

“Before starting her journalism career, Korengel worked from 1980-93 in varied teaching jobs in California and Japan.

“She then worked extensively as a freelancer in Japan, New York and Washington to build her journalism experience.

“She has a bachelor’s in sociology from Stanford University and a master’s in journalism from Columbia University in New York.
