Washington state business journal has new ownership

The Wenatchee Business Journal, a two-year-old business publication in Washington state, has new owners due to an exchange of newspapers between two companies.

Mike Irwin of the Wenatchee World writes, “On Monday, NCW Media, Inc., a local publisher of weekly newspapers, took over ownership and operations of the 24-year-old monthly business publication from Sound Publishing Inc., which has owned the Journal since 2007.

“In exchange, Sound Publishing acquired the Okanogan Valley Gazette-Tribune, an NCW Media weekly newspaper based in Oroville.

“‘The deal made sense for both our companies,’ Bill Forhan, chief executive officer of NCW Media, said this morning. ‘We’re already serving a lot of the Journal’s customers with our weeklies. We’re local and already part of the community.’

“Poulsbo-based Sound Publishing, the state’s largest publisher of community newspapers, had been overseeing the publication of the 3,400-circulation Journal from offices of its Bellingham Business Journal. Sound prints 32 papers in Washington and Oregon.”
