Washington Post taps Bogage as business breaking news reporter

Jacob Bogage

Washington Post business editor David Cho, deputy business editor Zachary Goldfarb and breaking news business editor Robbie DiMesio sent out the following on Friday:

We are thrilled to announce that Jacob Bogage is joining Business as a breaking news reporter.

Jacob has experience in this role, having been a Business intern at The Post in 2015 and 2016, before moving to Sports in August of 2016. In March, he temporarily moved from Sports to Business to help cover the economy and emerging recession amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He has written smart, incisive stories that have captured the pandemic’s economic upheaval and its toll on companies and consumers. He wrote about Ford’s unusual partnership with 3M and GE to mass produce ventilators and gas masks; delved into lost internships; and produced a pandemic unemployment guide. He helped anchor our live coverage of SpaceX and NASA’s first crewed mission to the International Space Station. And he has quickly become an authority on the growing politicization of the U.S. Postal Service and its potential implications for the November election.

In Sports, Jacob was a breaking news reporter who showed a knack for finding off-beat and quirky stories. He wrote about NBA player and Turkish political dissident Enes Kanter and the evolution of technology – including “robo umps” – in pro baseball. He also helped anchor coverage of the 2019 Women’s World Cup.

Jacob graduated from the University of Missouri with degrees in journalism and history. In his spare time when there isn’t a pandemic, he enjoys playing volleyball, watching college football and exploring with his dog, Cash.

Please join us in congratulating Jacob on his new role.
