Washington Post hires WSJ reporter Entous

Washington Post national editor Scott Wilson and national security editor Peter Finn sent out the following announcement: 

We are thrilled to announce that Adam Entous, a highly accomplished foreign correspondent, White House reporter and award-winning national security writer, is joining the National staff.

Adam is one of the country’s premier national security correspondents whose work at the Wall Street Journal we have admired for years. His mandate will be to range across U.S. national security agencies and to draw on his deep sourcing within the foreign diplomatic and intelligence communities to reveal, often in narrative form, the elements of and challenges to U.S. national security strategy at home and abroad.

Adam has been a master at this work for much of his career. He joined the Wall Street Journal as a national security correspondent in 2010, covering the Pentagon and intelligence agencies, after 17 years with Reuters. At the Journal, Adam won back-to-back Edwin Hood Diplomatic Awards from the National Press Club, as well as other prizes, for long-form investigative stories on the breakdown in the U.S.-Israel intelligence relationship and on the conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Libya. He covered the George W. Bush White House for five years after the September 11, 2001, attacks, then spent nearly four years in Jerusalem as senior correspondent, covering one war in Lebanon and two conflicts in the Gaza Strip.

Adam was born in Montreal, Canada, and grew up in California. He attended the University of California, Irvine, and ran the school newspaper. He later received a master’s degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. Adam and his wife, Sandra, live on Capitol Hill with their nine-month-old daughter, Emilia.
