Hannah Dreyfus Dormido will be joining The Washington Post as a graphics reporter focused on cartography.
Her new role begins on Oct. 19.
Dormido worked as a data visualization and QGIS/cartographic journalist at Bloomberg News, covering global politics, economics, climate change, science and technology, from the company’s Asia headquarters in Hong Kong.
Before that, Dormido was graphics team lead and senior web editor at Financial Times.
She has also worked as a freelancer and was an independent journalist, consultant and designer at her website. There, she supported multiple news organizations and served as an independent consultant and manager for custom features and design projects on behalf of non-news clients.
She was also a data journalism fellow at Open Knowledge Foundation and an editorial assistant for “Real Living” Magazine at Summit Media. She has also served as an online assets and social media manager at PUBLiCUS Asia, Inc.
She has also held the posts of junior creative team writer and writer and contributor at Television and Production Exponents Inc. and Bulatlat.com, respectively.
Additionally, she is also affiliated with the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), as well as other journalism and QGIS-related organizations.
Dormido is a B.A. in journalism from University of the Philippines Diliman.
