Katishi Maake has changed roles at the Washington Business Journal from digital producer to hospitality, retail and sports business reporter.
Maake writes, “I’ve spent the past year and a half largely writing general assignment stories with a focus on sports business, tied to the recent success of D.C.’s professional sports teams and the city’s attempt to implement sports wagering.
“Part of my previous role did involve tackling stories that fall under the traditional umbrella of the former TopShelf beat, but now I hope in some sense to transform our coverage as the region transforms. I have a bit of learning to do, but it’s something I’m excited for and hope readers are ready and willing to provide feedback.
“As an aside, we will retire the TopShelf title for the section, but I have commandeered the Twitter account’s 7,000-plus followers — so please follow me at @WBJKatishi.”
