The Wall Street Journal got one step closer to launching its glossy magazine Pursuits when it announced Thursday that Jamie Friedman Altschul will be its associate publisher and advertising director.
The magazine will launch on Sept. 6, 2008.
A release stated, “Ms. Friedman, 31, will be responsible for the day-to-day sales and marketing of Pursuits magazine. In addition to working with the Journal’s existing sales and marketing teams, she will build and lead a core staff of Pursuits specialists.
“‘Pursuits will extend the Journal’s highly successful business of life franchise and attract more luxury advertisers to reach the Journal’s affluent and influential audience,’ said Michael F. Rooney, chief revenue officer for Dow Jones & Company. ‘As advertisers seek new vehicles, having the right sales executive to educate the marketplace about Pursuits is pivotal. Jamie is a great asset, as she brings vast knowledge and expertise of the magazine world to us and our clients.'”
Pursuits, a glossy monthly magazine, plans to cover the world of wealth, from luxury goods and travel, to philanthropy, art and investing. The magazine hopes to build on the Journal’s business of life franchise and will showcase the Journal’s lifestyle coverage.
