Andrew McMains of Adweek writes that there are five advertising agencies vying to produce the next ad campaign for The Wall Street Journal.
“Mcgarrybowen and Trahan are roster shops that handle traditional advertising and direct marketing/interactive duties, respectively, for the media brand.
“The agencies either declined to comment or could not be reached. Calls and e-mails to WSJ executives were not immediately returned.
“In the past several weeks, the agencies have made presentations to client executives, said sources. Two of them are expected to advance to a final round, during which they will present to a client team that will include Rupert Murdoch, chairman of News Corp., which in December bought WSJ parent Dow Jones & Co. for $5.6 billion.”

Looks like the contract went to McGarry Bowen - http://adage.com/agencynews/article?article_id=131209. Do you have any examples of what kinds of advertising they came out with? I'm always curious to see the outcomes of high profile pitches like these but being based in the UK I wouldn't have got to see it...
