Vox Media is on the verge of announcing a furlough of about 100 employees later this week. Currently, executives are negotiating details with the Writers Guild of America, East, which represents about 350 Vox staff members, reports CNBC.
The number of people furloughed could rise or fall slightly depending on these negotiations.
As per the deal, the media company is discussing three-month furloughs for employees and is focusing on employees whose coverage areas have diminished during the pandemic. In addition, temporary three-month pay cuts aimed at the company’s highest earners are also being discussed.
The discussions are underway in an attempt to avoid making any of the staff redundant.
However, as of now, Vox has declined to state anything definite on the situation.
