Oltman named Recode senior editor, Stewart named Vox senior correspondent

Vox has promoted Samantha Oltman to the post of senior editor of Recode, and Emily Stewart to senior correspondent.

Vox is the owner of Recode.

Oltman will expand on the work she has done since joining Vox in 2019 to lead the relaunch of Recode on Vox.com. She also helped lead and executive produced Recode’s narrative and short-form podcasts.

Prior to joining Vox, she was deputy tech and business editor at BuzzFeed. She was also a web producer and homepage editor at Wired. She also served as an online editorial fellow at Mother Jones. Oltman has a B.A. in print journalism and French from the University of Southern California.

Stewart will focus on deepening her coverage of how markets affect people in their everyday lives. She joined Vox in 2017 as a reporter with a focus on politics, breaking news and business. She then served as a business and politics reporter. Recently, she served as a senior reporter covering business and the economy.

She was also a political reporter at TheStreet.com and a digital content producer at NY1 News. Stewart graduated from Columbia University, New York.
