John Reid Blackwell of the Richmond Times-Dispatch writes, “Bernard A. Niemeier, who has been publisher of Virginia Business since 2007, bought full ownership of the publication from Virginia Capital Partners in a deal that closed Friday, the magazine reported Wednesday.
“Virginia Capital Partners, a Richmond-based private equity firm, had been Niemeier’s equity partner in the magazine since it was acquired in September 2009 from Richmond-based communications company Media General Inc., which started the magazine in 1986.
“Media General, which once owned newspapers and television stations across the country, was acquired in January by Texas-based Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc. to form a new company.
“Virginia Business circulates 27,500 copies monthly. It also has a digital edition and a weekly commercial real estate newsletter.”
