Hannah Smothers, a senior staff writer at Vice covering health and health care, is leaving to pursue an MFA in fiction at Texas State University.
Smothers plans to freelance during her time at grad school.
Previously, she has worked at Cosmopolitan Magazine, Fusion and Texas Monthly. She has also freelanced for Daily Dot and New York Magazine’s The Cut among others.
She has also interned at Austin Monthly Magazine.
Smothers graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she also held an editorial role at the student newspaper.
