She previously covered financial services and regulation in the European Union for the Journal’s bureau in Brussels.
Verlaine also reported on the investment banking sector in London for Bloomberg News. Before starting a career in journalism, she worked at Barclays covering macro hedge funds on the foreign exchange desk in both London and New York.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. She is a dual American-Belgian citizen.
