VentureBeat hires new reporter

TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

VentureBeat founder and editor Matt Marshall sent out the following announcement to the staff on Tuesday:

We’re excited to announce that Chikodi Chima has agreed to join VentureBeat as a staff writer, starting Monday.

Chikodi is a recent graduate of the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, and he’s shown a lot of initiative in the multi-media. Gotta love this video on beards in Philadelphia. In his short time since leaving school, he’s traveled to Brazil (from where he first wrote a freelance piece for VentureBeat), helped start-up a blog for Breaking Media (called Alt-Transport) and did a stint at TheNextWeb, and more. He’s learned some solid lessons (school of hard knocks), and we think joining the VB team is a perfect place for his next move. He’s shown a keen interest in entrepreneurship and technology.

He’ll be covering general assignment, as well as some clean-tech, venture capital and start-up news. He’s eager to showcase his multi-media skills too, so we’re going to encourage him there. He’s super excited about joining the team, and can’t wait to meet the rest of you. He should be joining us during Friday’s meeting.

Please welcome Chikodi!
