Variety hires Horwitz as ME

Variety, which covers the business of entertainment, has hired Carolyn Horwitz as its managing editor.

A story on its website states, “Horwitz will be based in Variety’s Los Angeles headquarters, reporting to Co-Editors-In-Chief Claudia Eller and Andrew Wallenstein. She will help oversee newsroom operations and the Variety editorial team of more than 50 staffers in the PMC-owned company’s L.A. and New York offices.

“‘We are ecstatic to have Carolyn join our team and we look forward to embracing her creative ideas as we grow our Variety content and brand in a myriad of ways. Carolyn brings to the job a combination of ingenuity, confidence and strong editorial and management skills,’ said Eller and Wallenstein.

“Horwitz joins Variety from Entrepreneur magazine, where she had served as Executive Editor since 2011. She previously held key editorial roles at Billboard, among other magazines. Additionally, she has written and edited several books on design and architecture.”
