Digital news veteran William Earl has joined Variety.com as editor.
In this position, he will be overseeing online editorial operations for the entertainment business news brand.

Earl will be reporting to Cynthia Littleton, Variety interim editor-in-chief.
Littleton said:
“William Earl is a digital media veteran with a strong track record of helping other PMC brands grow and expand in highly competitive sectors. We’re happy to bring him on board at a time when there are incredible multi-platform opportunities for Variety’s worldwide team of journalists to cover the business of entertainment.”
Previously, Earl worked as director of digital development at Variety’s parent company, Penske Media Corporation (PMC).
Earl has also worked as a digital director at IndieWire, managing all editorial content and performing other tasks as well. He doubled traffic to 11.2 million monthly pageviews within two months.
He was also senior digital editor of PMC brands and has worked as an executive editor at Hollywood Life, as well as an account executive at Vision Global Marketing.
He has also interned and worked freelance at The Maine Switch.
